Juniors at Waukeela are extremely spirited and bring a sense of joy, fun, and adventure to our camp community!
We call each section of Waukeela an “alley” because our cabins are lined up in two rows facing each other.
We have three Junior Alley age groups that are all named after fairies, making their childhood and camp experience even more magical. Our Gnomes are in 4th grade and are 10 years old, whilst our Nymphs are in 5th grade and are between 10-11. Our oldest age group of Junior Alley are our Pixies who are in 7th grade and are 12-13.
Campers living in Junior Alley form close bonds with their cabin mates and counselors. Juniors at Waukeela have the opportunity to try every activity we offer and build up their skills in many areas they may not otherwise try at home. Juniors swim every day and are instructed by our Red Cross-Certified lifeguards and water safety instructors.
In addition to swimming, Juniors have three ‘choosing’ periods in which they get to choose from a wide range of activities. This schedule is really popular with our Juniors and gives them a chance to excel in specific skills and the space to grow.
During this growth period in their lives, Juniors have access to incredible role models in our staff members and support from older campers and their Waukeela sisters.
