In Waukeela’s music program girls can practice and perform musically. Everyone sings at camp almost all day long, but music classes take it up a notch. With the assistance of the music instructor, girls organize performances to sing or play an instrument in the camp variety show, a Sunday Appreciation Service, or for Parents at the end of camp. For girls who might not want to perform, a music lesson might instead include a game of “Waukeela Music Jeopardy,” writing a fan letter to your favorite musician, or writing your own rap.
Although individual voice and instrument lessons are not normally available, the music counselor is always very happy to lend an ear and assist with a practice schedule for anyone desiring her to do so.
