Big Dock Deep water swimming area around the lake where more advanced swimmers have class. Officially named Vic’s Dock after a previous director.
Bug Juice Brightly colored sweet drink served at lunch. May occasionally feature an actual small, floating insect.
Bung Short for the Bungalow, this is the living room of Waukeela where Campers, staff, and visitors congregate.
Can Opener The small P.D. (see below) behind Tavern (also see below)
CIT Counselor-in-training. Also sometimes referred to as “the backbone” (occasionally the “tailbone”) of Waukeela.
Condo The cabin behind TreeHouse constructed in the 1980s

Dork An outstanding and unselfcounscious individual – one of the highest compliments you can receive at Waukeela
the Duplexes Two two-room cabins for non-cabin staff at the head of Memory Trail
E.A.R. Elevated Archery Field, located behind the Outdoor Theatre. Some Campers may continue to refer to its inglorious past as the Leachfield.

L.W.C. Little White Church. The picturesque church across the lake from camp where the last Appreciation Service of each session is normally held.

Loon A fascinating black and white-plumed bird often seen and heard on Crystal Lake.

Outdoor Theater Open air theatre at the back of camp. Appreciation Services and the Parents’ Weekend play are held here.
P.D. Waukeela name for the bathroom, loo, restroom, or W.C. There are a number of conflicting stories about the historical roots of this term.

Purple ’s the best color and that ain’t no bull! Although obviously a well-known fact, there is some debate about this at Waukeela.
Reveille Bugle call signifying that it is time to rise and shine in the morning

Snoopy A mysterious person or animal who inspects all cabins daily, leaving a score from 1-10 and an occasional treat for campers who are consistently tidy. Theories abound as to who Snoopy may truly be, but he/she/it has never been caught performing his/her/it’s duties!
Soupy Second bugle call for meals, which often precipitates a minor stampede into the dining room
Stevie Ma’am Southern belle of a waterfront director often spotted wearing magenta. Our official weather reporter at assembly and general camp institution.
Taps Bugle call signifying lights out. Peace may or may not reign thereafter.
Tap and Slide Dining room procedures designed to feed a large number of ravenous Waukeela girls in a short time; normally performed by the CITs
Tavern Short for Duffy’s Tavern, this is the largest cabin at camp and is always occupied by our oldest campers, the Scotch Pines.
Tohko Camp Tohkomeopog for Boys, located 4 miles down Rte. 153. A rival of Camp Deerwood and Camp William Lawrence, all of which may make much anticipated appearances for dances in the course of a summer.
