Canoeing

Every camper goes on an introductory day-long canoe trip to a local lake or river, and campers may choose to go on overnight flatwater canoe trips as well. Canoe trips are a favorite among campers because they often bring with them opportunities to swing on rope swings, float down a river in a lifejacket, and generally just spend a day having water fights and eating GORP. Of course, these trips also teach the basic paddling strokes so that girls can eventually try their hand at whitewater canoeing. Trips generally consist of 4 to 6 canoes, 2 counselors, 8-10 campers, tons of sunscreen, and a whole lotta mischief!
