Girl Power: How Waukeela Empowers Young Girls

Posted by on October 12, 2017

With the recent celebration of International Day of the Girl on October 11th, we’d like to take a moment to talk about Waukeela and how we help empower young women to become their best selves. How do we do that? The amazing Waukeela community and the personal growth that comes from our camp programs!

Community

At Waukeela, we believe that no one succeeds alone and everyone should be accepted for exactly who they are. The community we create at Waukeela allows girls to develop their skills and grow confident in their abilities. Life at Waukeela includes an endless amount of leadership. With mentors, “Big Sisters” and staff members there is constantly a role model and support system for the girls to lean on.

Personal Growth

Waukeela fosters personal growth through a series of age-appropriate challenges and guidance from caring role models. We always try to encourage girls to be bold and try new activities that they can only experience at camp such as archy, the high ropes course or rock climbing an actual mountain face! With the support of our caring staff, Waukeela girls are allowed to try and learn from all of their endeavors and have fun while doing so! We are always amazed by the confidence gained from just one summer away at camp.

Do you or your child have any personal stories about how Waukeela has empowered them? We are constantly inspired by our #WaukeelaGirls and would love to hear them!
